This was one of the most unique, challenging, and wonderful sessions I’ve experienced to date.

About half way through our two hour journey to the Old Colonial City on the rim of Panama city, we hit rain. Not a drizzle, or hints of a downpour… but a full on Central American torrential downpour. We pushed on to our location, as we really didn’t have another opportunity to make this trip.

We began by trying to steal a few pictures under balconies, and carefully trying to keep the bride and camera gear dry, while only having one umbrella at our disposal. Everything was getting wet… It was nearly impossible to shoot. We finally decided to call it a day and finish with a shot of them running in the rain. So I grabbed my belt, strapped the umbrella to my head, put away all my gear, grabbed my trusty 5D and 45mm T/S, and walked out into the rain to finish our last shot.

Our last shot became many more shots as we realized that we actually had a good thing going on! They both rocked the wet look, and I loved the photos we were getting. I have so much admiration for them both for how adventurous, brave, and patient they both were.

So much could be said… like the time we walked into a rough area of town where tourists DO NOT go… the store owner who thought we were nuts… or the time I randomly pressed the trigger just as a big lightning strike lite up the sky behind them… or how every dry inch of my clothing had to be used to wipe my lens dry. But alas… I’ll leave you to the photos.
